With heavy hearts, we announce that the 2020 West Virginia Dairy Cattle Show & Festival is canceled. Complying with public health guidelines would have left little of the activities and atmosphere remaining that bring families and exhibitors back year after year.
Don’t hang up your show halters yet, though. In the coming weeks we’ll announce a variety of online events and awards through the West Virginia Dairy Cattle Show Facebook page for virtual open/youth breed classes, pretty cow contest, and other youth events–hopefully including showmanship, dairy bowl, judging, and more!
If you had previously made lodging reservations with WVU Jackson’s Mill, those reservations have been canceled and you will be contacted by Mill staff soon (in fact, the Mill is not re-opening for lodging until late in the fall, so that lodging would not have been available had the Show continued).
Like you, many of us are long-time exhibitors and supporters of the show that wanted to see it continue this year, but we have to balance that desire against the health of everyone involved.
